We woke up ready to go! In Kotor and Dubrovnik it tended to storm through the morning forcing us to sleep in (darn!). And over the past two or three days Hannah had finally settled in to a better sleeping pattern and I was finally starting to feel more human and functional. We walked to the cable car station (which was closer to us than old town) and took the cable car to the top of the mountain behind Dubrovnik. It was a beautiful view of the surrounding islands and the old town and the weather was fantastic. The downside? The cables blocked the best vantage points for a great photograph. Oh well. We spent a while wandering around enjoying the views and I took a break for a bit with Hannah and enjoyed a tasty coffee while I soaked in the fantastic view. I caved on this trip and finally started drinking coffee again (it had been almost an entire year since I had any non decaf coffee).

After the cable car we ate lunch at a restaurant that overlooked the old town and was right along the water. The food was tasty, the view was awesome, and it had a path down to the water's edge. Daniel took Hannah down there at one point and discovered she loved watching the water crash against the rocks - she did her really excited face and did a lot of excited squirming as he stood on the rocks with her. From there we headed on to the walled portion of the city and bought tickets for the ferry to Lokrum (and maybe had some more amazing gelato). The ferry was a nice peaceful ride out to the island.

The island had moderately shaded walking trails leading up to a fort that sat on the pinnacle point of the island. There were also a large number of peacocks scattered across the island, calling to each other and wandering around. We hiked up to the top of the island and enjoyed the awesome views of the mainland and the old walled city of Dubrovnik, which from this point was just a bit misty and seemed to be a town that rose out of the mist like a fairly tale. It was almost cartoon like.

From that point we took the ferry back and finally headed up to the hotel in time to order some delicious pizza and watch the sunset from our balcony. It had been a gorgeous day!

This reminds me of when we visited Fatehpur Sikri, except of course the ocean. Yes, I'm very behind in reading your posts... I am reading though! lol. Makes me wonder if my baby will get so excited first time she sees the ocean... I miss the ocean! lol
By the way, one of the coolest random things in India? Seeing a wild peacock just hanging out by the side of the road as I drove past, here in Gurgaon. lol. Only seen it once, but peacocks are the national bird of India!
