As we round the two month mark, Lily is slowly but surely
letting us see more glimpses of her personality. When you have her focus,
there is a sparkle in her eye as she makes eye contact and smiles or opens her
mouth as if she has something to say. When she has your attention, her
eyes light up and she excitedly waves her arms and legs while quickly breathing
in and out with her mouth open as if she's so excited she can't get the words
out.
She is definitely her own person and looks like
"Lily" to us, but there are so many times when a "Hannah
face" will flash in and out. There are certain expressions in which
as babies they would have seemed identical and Lily looks very much like baby
Hannah when she sleeps. My girls both have these beautiful cheeks and
adorable pout when they sleep and they both have loved to curl their hands up
to their faces or stretch them over their heads. So much so, that
swaddling quickly became unnecessary with Lily as she would spend more energy
grunting and squirming and fighting the swaddle and slept peacefully without
one.
Daniel and I braced ourselves as we went from weeks 4 to
weeks 9, as that is so frequently when babies become intensely cranky or
develop witching hours (Hannah definitely had a witching hour(s)!). But
to our delight and amazement, Lily has just been an awesome "fourth
trimester" baby. She is wonderfully easy going and very reasonable
with her demands. We have had a few rough nights here and there, but she
has generally stuck to the sleeping for 2-3 hours at a time, waking to eat, and
going right back to snuggly sleep. She cries, but it's when she wants a
dry diaper or to be fed or to be held. Or, a Lily specialty - because she
wants to be left alone and to sleep! That was a new one for us, but one
that we have quickly adapted to.

Lily has steadily outgrown the Vesuvius thing, although we
still have an episode from time to time - and they are epic. She reminds
me of a turtle when she's hungry because she opens and closes her mouth as she seeks food. She loves diaper changes - there's always a
moment when she realizes she is dry again when her face lights up and she tries
to chatter with me.

Hannah continues to absolutely adore her little sister and
has been amazing! We still really haven't had any jealously
meltdowns! I honestly can't believe it. Hannah has never minded
that I nurse Lily and in fact even "encourages" it - often
enthusiastically yelling at Lily to "EAT! EAT EEEEEEAT!!!" as I go to
feed her. When she comes home from preschool she runs over to kiss Lily
before she even says hi to me. When we ask Hannah what she did at school
she says "played with friends...outside" and will also tell you if
she "played with legos" or "ran and ran." It's very
cute. She is very particular and requests very specific foods, plates,
cups, etc. With her sippy cups she will even tell us what color top is
supposed to be paired with which color bottom. The other day I came into
our house, sweaty from a dog walk and Hannah quizzically studied my face, patted
my cheek and diagnosed me with "water face." Hahaha.
While I love the Chobani yogurt tubes I am incredibly frustrated with
their latest packaging. They launched a "super heroes" special
edition packaging. The same flavor will have yogurt tubes that are blue
OR red. ...So Hannah is always requesting one specific color and is then
all upset when we only have the other color. Thanks Chobani.
(There's blue strawberry yogurt tubes and red strawberry yogurt tubes and
blue banana yogurt tubes and red banana yogurt tubes, etc). Someone did
not think of toddlers when they packaged their product.

At Lily's two month checkup the pediatrician actually referred to her as "mellow." At 2 months Lily has also nearly caught up with where 2 month Hannah was weight wise! Lily's been working hard! She was 11 lbs 14 oz at her 2 month checkup, Hannah was 12 lbs 2 oz, but was born a full pound heavier! Go Lily! She is definitely growing and we bittersweetly put away many of the three month outfits and have been using the 3-6 month and smaller 6 month clothing!
What about the parents?
Daniel and I are doing well and have been enjoying the simplicity of life while I am on maternity leave - we know the storm and the grind are coming and are doing are best to enjoy the calm and sweet early days as a new family!

Fun events this month?
Daniel's family visited and Michael, Stephanie, Grandma and "Papa" enjoyed playing with Hannah and snuggling with Lily!

We also took a long weekend trip to NJ, met Hannah and Lily's cousin, Penelope, and took Hannah on her first real trip to the beach!
