Day 3 - Leutasch Gorge

The fun the children have while mom is up getting more coffee at the buffet and dad is in charge...lol
Mmm, when the girls got restless, we just headed to the gardens outside our hotel to continue enjoying our cappuccinos and espressos.
Our first night...when you're supposed to have amazing sleep and finally crash and feel restored... yeah, Lily blew that up.  It was awful.  But we slept some.  And once again I slept least.  Ugh.  So we started day two more run down than we had hoped, but enjoyed breakfast and really enjoyed their professional grade coffee machine and the cappuccinos that came out of it and managed to get out fairly early and head to Leutasch Gorge.

Leutasch Gorge, with it's beautiful coloring from the snow melt and minerals of the Tirolean alps

Ready to roll and just getting started!

Hannah enjoyed the activities along the way
Luetasch Gorge didn't disappoint!  It's a beautiful river racing it's way through the mountains, which can be viewed from a series of platforms that snake their way through the gorge itself.  Hannah walked/ran/galloped/sang/timidly stepped her way through the entire thing and did great on the mile and a half trail.  She was nervous when the platforms revealed that there was in fact nothing beneath us (aside a 100+ foot fall) before the river and bottom of the gorge, but other than that, she seemed to really enjoy herself.  Lily walked more today than any other day of her life and seemed quite happy most of the day.
Lily enjoyed testing our her newfound walking skills along the special walkways

Lily loved the gong and Hannah helped

the hike through the woods on the way back was beautiful!
Tirolean slugs...Hannah was fascinated
After the gorge we crashed hard back at the hotel, all quite tired, although very little naps were to be had.  We decided to venture out after rest time in search of a playground along a small lake front...but...unlike all of the other times of the trip when it said it was going to rain and it lightly drizzled for ten minutes... we found ourselves in a down pour...for the better portion of an hour.  Thank goodness I had rain coats for the kids, Cause Daniel and I were soaked through.  Overall it was an excursion meant to fail.  There was a cafe near the park we reached, we tried to get drinks and snacks there but service was crippling slow.  Daniel played with the kids outside, but they ended up cold and wet and muddy... and our food still hadn't arrived.  I had backup clothes in my bag, but each kid was having their own meltdown... it was just a tough afternoon and poor choices on our part (even though we were trying to get them fresh air and do something they would enjoy).  *Sigh*.

Monument from the Olympics

It was just destined to be a failed outing...

When the kiddos are restless, but you still want a legit meal?  Room service!

This evening has been far tamer and sweeter and we are excited for another day of adventures tomorrow.  We are definitely enjoying the slower pace and have enjoyed our vacation time so far - it's been a great start!  We are excited to meet up with the Hals, but have enjoyed our special time together too.
Enjoying the view from our balcony and hotel room
