So far we are loving Patagonia! Our flight landed early yesterday afternoon and we were leaving in the taxis with all of our bags by the time we were supposed to have landed (major win!) Our "apartment" that we rented for the six of us actually turned out to be a beautiful, cozy little cabin. The steps up to the cabin are lined with thick, lush, bristly bushes of lavender and the views are awesome.
We took taxis into town (usually we would just rent a car...but the car rentals here are prohibitively expensive and for most of our time here doing a la carte taxis is far cheaper than the other option) and enjoyed walking around as the sun set. We found a delicious restuarant called Mako ~Fuego & Vino~ that was spectacular. We ordered various steaks and lambs all grilled to perfection and enjoyed some amazing local Patagonian Malbecs that were just phenomenal! And! Hannah was really really good and enjoyed herself about 90% of the time. Once we finished dinner, I ducked out and grabbed a taxi and Daniel stayed behind to wrap up the bill with our friends and grab a few groceries while I tucked Hannah into bed back at the cabin.

This morning the group split (and the trekkers are still out...so I can't report on their adventures yet). Meredith, Chris, and Natalie all headed out with Heilo y Adventuro to get to do some glacier trekking. Hannah (who was not permitted to do such things by the company), Daniel, Beth, and Tom all rented a car together and drove out to the Glacier National Park to see Perito Moreno Glacier.

We had an awesome time! The catwalks extend for over a mile and allowed you to get all kinds of different angles of the glacier - the face of it is at least 60 meters high and extends back at least 14 kilometers - it is an amazing site! We started at the lowest trail and hiked around and up. The best part was that by hiking in this direction, we were able to be continually and increasingly impressed with each turn and each flight of stairs. Hannah did great! She was the youngest baby we saw all day, but got all kinds of attention too! We took a few snack breaks for her and let her toddle around on some of the benches when we sensed she was getting antsy and overall she was a pretty happy-go-lucky kiddo.

The pictures will speak for themselves, far better than we can. We enjoyed a yummy lunch at a restaurant overlooking the glacier and then headed home and got home just as a rainy, blustery front moved in.
The gang is in - had a great time hiking on the glacier! Perhaps I can get some pictures from them soon! None of them fell off the glacier!
